GLOSSARY
Data protection
Data protection safeguards people when personal data is processed, through lawful purposes, limited use, appropriate security and enforceable rights for the individuals concerned.
Business contacts still involve people
A B2B conversation may contain names, professional email addresses and statements attributed to individual contacts. A negotiation between companies does not automatically make those details non-personal. Before using AI to analyse the conversation, establish which information the purpose requires and who may receive it. A summary may often serve the task with fewer personal details than a full transcript. That choice belongs in the workflow design, before information is sent to additional service providers.
Make the proposed handling traceable
A practical review maps data types, purposes, responsibilities, recipients and deletion paths. Data residency is only one element. A promise of short retention needs to consider logs, caches and any relevant backups. Customers benefit from specific answers: which content is stored, which rights apply and who handles requests? The legal assessment depends on the particular use and the roles involved. A public glossary cannot perform that case-specific review. It can make the questions visible that support a defensible technical and organisational implementation.
